In my previous post I said I would start listing all of the predictions concerning the climate that I have found that turned out not to be true. So here is the beginning of my list and more will follow.

“Washington DC for instance would go from its current 35 days a year over 90 degrees to 85 days a year.” James Hansen the Lansing State Journal December 12, 1988.| Didn’t happen.

“. . . Sea level is threatening to completely cover this Indian Ocean nation of 1196 small islands within the next 30 years. . . “ The Canberra Times September 26, 1988. Maldives still there!

“. . . Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea level if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.” Associated Press June 30, 1989 Jim Hansen said that in New York City by 2018 “The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be underwater.” October 23, 2001| It is not!

From a secret report the guardian obtained Britain will be plunged into a ‘Siberian’ climate by 2020.hhim The Guardian, February 21, 2004| It’s perfectly fine with no unusually cold weather.

Kind of disheartening to see all these wild predictions coming out in the name of science and then being used by Big Green and presented with the associated fear mongering the public (more specifically the left public) are taking to heart at the time they are espoused but soon forgotten about. It is well known since the days of the tobacco industry doing its own research to place doubt on the effects of tobacco that these doubts wind up being put in the back of people’s minds to discredit something else. Tucked away as they are, and the average person not having the time to research on.

their own, they wind up being something to fear instead of something to consider based on past history and the validity of what was said.
